The GLO KING Story

Born from real-world experience on the job

Steve Samus, from Good Day Electrical Service, is an electrician with 32 years of electrical experience. He came up with the idea for GLO KING after realising a need to simplify electrical installations in visually impaired areas.

The Problem

This issue particularly applies to one-man installations, where cables are required to be installed in walls, ceilings and under floors. Cables are required for the installations or relocation of:

  • Power points
  • Light switches
  • Light fittings
  • Telephones
  • Data & computer outlets
  • Intercom or security systems
  • Smoke detectors
  • Audio & stereo equipment

The Inspiration

For many years, flooring tongues were used to assist with electrical installations. Flooring tongues are long plastic strips that come with timber flooring and are always laying around construction sites.

Steve thought it would be great if a product like that glowed – making it far easier to see during the installation.

The Solution

Steve researched potential glowing products that could be melted through a flooring tongue (king) that could be continually recharged. So even if the GLO KING is scratched up during installations it can still be recharged as the pigment is throughout the entire GLO KING.

The result? A simple, effective tool that has been helping Australian electricians for over 20 years.
